Rahil's Veil Workshop, Summer 2017

Our Mission

At KC Raqs World Dance Studio, our mission is to create well-rounded, skilled, and knowledgeable dancers. With a comprehensive curriculum aimed at all skill levels, our certification program does just that. The KC Raqs Student Certification Program will assist dancers from beginners on up in setting and achieving their dance goals and ensuring they are well-rounded at their level. Technique is emphasized, especially for newer dancers, to train and strengthen their bodies to move in new ways. No matter the experience level, students will be able to challenge themselves with the use of props, from foundational levels to advanced tricks of the trade. Dancers will grow in understanding of different styles of belly dance, the cultures and folk dances that have influenced the dance, and the fascinating history that ties it all together. Finally, students will hone their skills in musical interpretation, improvisation, and performance technique in order to put all that dance training to use on the stage. Please check out the "Events" page in order to sign up for your next class!

Final Notes

Class numbers denote the level of experience necessary to take the class. "100s" are Level 1 and higher, "200s" are Level 2 and higher, and "300s" are for Level 3 and master students.

Remember, certification is just one of many options for students. Certification is not required in order to participate in classes and you are still welcome to drop in to classes on your own schedule. You don’t need to track any classes and if you aren’t into certification, it won’t affect 95% of your dance experience. The only thing to pay extra attention to are “prerequisites”. For some classes, especially in special topics like props and styles, you’ll need to take the fundamental classes before jumping in at higher levels. Check out the event page to see what sessions are prerequisites for upcoming classes. For a detailed curriculum map at your level, please contact Rahil at rahil.dances@gmail.com.
