Guided Improvisation (Level 3+)

Guided Improvisation (314): Sundays from 5 to 6 PM, 6 weeks (July 10, 17, 24, 31, Aug 7, 14). $63/session, $12/single

Improvisation is a vital skill for all performing dancers for a variety of reasons, from theoretical (belly dance in its most authentic form is improvisational) to practical (when your mind goes blank and you forget your choreo on stage, you can’t just stop dancing) to emotional (being able to improvise allows us to enjoy the dance more in so many ways). In this six week series, dancers will work with familiar songs to increase and specialize their repertoire of “go-to moves”. From prompts on what types of moves to use, to understanding when to travel and when to work isolations, to identifying musical structure, this series is sure to advance your dance skills!

Prereq: 301 (Advanced Technique) or Instructor Approval
