About the event
For the next installment of the "More Than Just Moves" Lecture Series, we will define some of that seemingly endless belly dance terminology. For newer dancers, hobbyists, or those trying to wrap their heads around the complex history of belly dance, sometimes the jargon can be daunting. We will start with some basic terms, like "hafla" and "raqs", and work our way into more specific terms, such as "awalim", "baladi", "taqsim", and so on. This 20 to 30 minute Zoom meeting will be fairly open forum for anyone with questions or discussion points within the framework of this topic. If you have terms that you'd like to discuss, feel free to send them over in advance and I will add them to the list!
The zoom link will be provided for free to all participants in August sessions (check your session "orientation" email) and will be recorded. The recording is available upon request. Anyone not participating in August sessions can register for the meeting or recording on the website.
