Song Mapping for Aspiring Choreographers

Whether you are newer to writing choreographies, a seasoned soloist, or a die-hard improv dancer, the more you understand and familiarize with your music, the better your performances will be. Taking a step back from your song and looking at it as a whole, instead of 8 counts at a time, can help you create a framework that ensures you get to highlight all your best attributes in a dynamic and well-planned piece.

In this class, we will look at three different songs that fit different "styles" of music commonly used for belly dance as an example of how to map various kinds of songs.
